Head To Ratha-Yatra, Toronto's Festival Of India

Picture of Culture Trip Toronto
Updated: 30 June 2016
The 44th annual Festival Of India – also known as Ratha-Yatra – is Toronto’s largest Indian festival, showcasing hare krishna culture, traditions and heritage. Kicking off with the parade on Yonge Street, elaborate floats will coast down the street among thousands of participants and spectators as the air is filled with music, singing, drumming and dancing – even spectators can join in on the fun and dance down the street with the parade. The rest of the celebrations will continue on Centre Island including a *free* vegetarian feast, music and dance performances, a South Asian-style bazaar filled with vendors, exhibits, face painting, an outdoor yoga festival and yoga for children. The festival is organized by ISKCON Toronto, the International Society For Krishna Consciousness, a rich and vibrant hub for culture in the community which shares spiritual teachings including yoga, vegetarianism, meditation and self-development.

Free admission; ferry tickets to Centre Island not included. Purchase ferry tickets here.
