Cinephiles are in for a good month. In addition to the Italian Contemporary Film Festival, the Toronto Japanese Film Festival kicks off June 9th. Presented by the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre and Shiseido, the Festival – now in its fifth year – showcases the best Japanese films that have been acclaimed by Japanese audiences and critics, international film festivals, and the Japanese Film Academy. The Festival’s extensive programming includes a huge range of genres, with something for everyone – including historical (samurai) jidaigeji, contemporary dramas, comedies and action, literary adaptation, children’s, and anime. So, get to a cinema and enjoy some of the best that Japanese film has to offer.
