Dubai is the ultimate destination for architectural inspiration, shopping, international cuisine tasting, and a great mix of desert and beach escapes. The city’s linear planning means that at any given point you can find yourself between the beach and the desert, making it easy to access both. Dubai’s beaches along the city’s west coast all have their specific charms, so read up on our guide to get ready for Dubai’s beach season and some gorgeous sunset shots.

Kite Beach

This is beach-goer’s paradise. If you’re more into exploring the residential side of Dubai, this is the place to go. Anything goes when you’re at Kite Beach; you will come across people soaking up the sun, getting some beach yoga done, kite surfing, hanging out at an extensive selection of daytime dining spots, or playing volleyball with some of the city’s finest. Located in the heart of Jumeirah, jump in a cab and ask for Kite Beach, they’ll know where to take you!

Sunset Beach

One of Dubai’s best surfing beaches, Sunset Beach is located just at the foot of Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Burj Al Arab. Once the waves roll in during the winter months you can expect to find the waters dotted with dedicated surfers and stand-up paddlers meditating out in the sea. This is also the most accessible beach for tourists to get a good snap of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest structure, so make sure to have your cameras ready.

Al Sufouh Beach

Like many other places, Dubai’s got a hidden secret. Al Sufouh beach – or as some like to call it, Secret Beach – is hidden in plain sight really, it just takes a resident to know how to find it. Located on Al Sufouh Road between the palaces, it’s down an off-road exit to the right, just as you pass the main palace. This is the only public beach where you can catch a glimpse of the Burj Al Arab from its right-hand side. Being one of the calmest beaches in Dubai, it’s the perfect place for a relaxed morning swim (as many residents do) or just to soak up the sun and nothing but the sound of waves.

The Beach at JBR

If you’ve ever asked about beach options in Dubai, chances are you were referred directly to The Beach at Jumeirah Beach Residences (JBR). One of the biggest tourist beaches in Dubai, The Beach has transformed into a shopping, dining, entertainment and relaxation experience for the whole family, and maybe you’ve heard of its latest addition, the largest inflatable water park in the world! This is definitely one of the best public beaches to take you from day to night.
