It used to be that Doha was an oasis of gleaming five-star hotels and opulent rooms. However, as the 2022 FIFA World Cup looms, there has been a push to offer a more diverse and cost-effective range of hotel options for visitors. With accommodation ranging from city-side digs to rooms in the heart of the historic district, here are our picks of the best cheap hotels in Doha to book for your next visit.

Located directly opposite the Museum of Islamic Art, The Town Hotel offers basic but comfortable rooms within easy reach of the city’s contemporary east coast district, West Bay. Rooms are spacious and include separate bathtubs and showers. However, the main draw to The Town Hotel is its impeccable customer service. Hotel staff are warm and accommodating and will happily help you book tours and taxis to explore the city and beyond. You’ll find an extensive buffet breakfast here, too. If you are looking for something different, numerous restaurants are within walking distance.

Sports fanatics can try its Olympic-size swimming pool and work up a sweat in the fully equipped gym. The hotel also has basketball courts and a football pitch – all in the heart of the city. Rooms are reasonably priced and come with free Wi-Fi and satellite TVs. Some even have views of the Doha Corniche, the city’s waterfront promenade. For dining, the hotel has three on-site restaurants and offers an in-room menu. However, several great cafés and other well-priced dining establishments are within walking distance, too.
