Doha may be a latecomer to the Airbnb scene, but that doesn’t mean the city is short of amazing accommodation. Visitors can choose to stay amid the glitz and glamour of Qatar’s artificial island, the Pearl Qatar, or plump for something in the thick of Doha’s bustling Old Town – there’s something for every type of traveller here.

If the central location doesn’t draw you in, the picturesque set-up will. Described as an outhouse, this small, self-contained studio flat is bright and colourful, perfect for the solo traveller. It has everything you need for a short- or medium-length stay in the city, with a kitchenette, workstation and single bed, as well as a small garden area to enjoy in the cooler winter months. The location is convenient, with a big supermarket and two traditional bakeries around the corner, where you can sample traditional kanafeh (sweet cheese pastries) and other local delicacies. The popular Villaggio Mall is a short taxi ride away, as are the city’s major museums and forts.
This two-bedroom apartment provides the full luxury Doha experience, complete with a doorperson and concierge at your beck and call. With a large living area and direct access to the Pearl Qatar’s promenade, this space is perfect for active families and those seeking a bit of luxury. The spacious and well-equipped kitchen has a breakfast nook and a washer and dryer, and there is also a six-seater dining table in the living area. The building has a pool and gym, as well as indoor and outdoor play areas for the kids. You can also count on one dedicated parking space – a real luxury in this parking-starved city. A range of Middle Eastern and international restaurants are within walking distance of the apartment.
Located in residential Al Markhiya, this apartment is away from the hustle of West Bay but close to some very convenient shopping and leisure centres such as the Tawar Mall and Landmark Mall. Quirkily decorated with pink sofas and an eclectic collection of statues, the compact living and kitchen area has everything you need for a leisurely stay, including a cooktop, microwave and TV with cable. The apartment comes with a high chair and is a budget-friendly option for a small family – the Duhail Family Park is close by, too.
The Zigzag Towers are two of Doha’s most talked-about buildings, overlooking the West Bay Lagoon and jutting out at sharp angles. This apartment inside the famed towers comes with two full-size bedrooms and a sofa in the huge living area, perfect for a larger family wanting the comforts of home. Unusually for an apartment in Doha, there is a lot of storage space. Kids will love the proximity to the playground and pool as well as Lagoona Mall, which is located at the foot of the building. There is a supermarket inside the mall, great for stocking up the fully equipped kitchen. For those times when you are too tired to cook, there is a range of excellent restaurants and cafés in the mall and the two five-star hotels nearby.
At first glance, the Qanat Quartier area of the Pearl Qatar looks as if it doesn’t belong in Doha. The candy-coloured, Italian-inspired canals are intentionally reminiscent of Venice, and buildings here are low-rise, in sharp contrast to the glittering skyscrapers in central Doha. Located in the heart of this stunning district, this huge, tastefully decorated one-bedroom apartment sleeps three people and has lots of natural light and a large balcony. The fully equipped kitchen comes with a washer and dryer, and the building is staffed 24 hours a day. There’s a private beach within walking distance, and the host will even pick you up from the airport.
If it’s space and luxury you’re after, this beautifully presented apartment is for you. With three bedrooms and three bathrooms, it can comfortably accommodate a large family or group. The huge combined living area is furnished with plump leather sofas, and the wraparound balcony affords spectacular views of Doha’s famed sunsets. One bedroom is a dedicated child’s room. The building has a pool, Jacuzzi, barbecue area and well-equipped gym, as well as an indoor children’s playroom. If you’re in the mood to eat out, there are plenty of restaurants and cafés just a few steps away in Doha’s vibrant Pearl Qatar district.
While Barwa City is located around 30 minutes away from Doha, the green and self-contained community is an excellent place to stay for those seeking a more peaceful stay. This three-bedroom, family-focussed apartment is located in the heart of the complex and is simply decorated with neutral colours – the perfect setting for a relaxing getaway. The main bedroom comes with an en suite, while the two other large bedrooms (one double and two singles) share a full bathroom. Families looking for a longer stay will appreciate the large supermarket nearby and the well-equipped kitchen. Note that this apartment is best suited for those with access to a car.
The newest addition to the artificial island known as the Pearl Qatar, the Viva Bahriya area boasts some of the best views in the city. This one-bedroom apartment would make a good base for an adventurous single or couple, and is fully equipped and located in the heart of the action. The devil is in the details, like the designer tiles in the bathrooms and the sleek furniture in the living area with seafront views. The bedroom is small, but the adjoining balcony with views of the Pearl more than makes up for that.
