Modest fashion has become a growing trend due to the increasing demand of a young, religious demographic who proudly uphold their values in terms of their clothing. Designers who focus solely on modest fashion, as well as larger sites that offer a marketplace for modest fashion brands, have all sprouted up increasing the diversity of modest clothing. Of course the world of social media followed suit, with Instagram accounts and blogs that offer current style trends and outfits from designers as well as larger brands. We look at the ones to follow right now.

@thefrocknyc

Aussie-raised, New York-based Jewish sisters Simi Polonsky and Chaya Chanin are putting an unexpected and entertaining spin on modest fashion. They created this account to promote their women’s designer consignment pop-up shop, The Frock NYC, which offers some of the best that modest fashion has to offer. Keep an eye open for future pop-ups, so you can check out all the gently used but high fashion items they have hanging on their racks.

@mimumaxi

Mimi Hecht and Mushky Notik run this Instagram account as one of the important members of the DIY fashion community. Finding more than they bargained for when seeking to make the clothes they couldn’t find, these two designers started the company Mimu Maxi in order to modify current style trends to follow Jewish modesty regulations (called tznius). You’ll find beautiful flowy skirts and dresses that are given a modern touch with a leather jacket or a very cool wraparound.

@modlifashion

A Jewish woman who was raised in Israel from the age of four, Nava Brief-Fried founded Modli as one of the only modest fashion online marketplaces where users can buy and sell items from various designers from all over the world. Inspired by the work of independent boutique designers, Modli allows for individual modest design to reach a larger audience, so that like-minded women from around the world can nurture a community.

@summeralbarcha

Summer Albarcha is a religious Muslim girl from California whose Instagram account and blog detail her extremely stylish modest fashion outfits. Followed by more than 337,000 people, Albarcha began exhibiting her unique style in 2012 and shows how the traditional and modern come together perfectly. She has spoken at international events about the lack of modest fashion trends in the U.S.A., and currently attends the John Cook School of Business at St. Louis University.

@chandradleonardo

Chandra Leonardo is an Apostolic Christian from northern California whose blog, ‘MOMOMOD: More Modern Modesty’, challenges the idea that ‘less clothing is more attractive and that style must be compromised in order to be modest’. With her blog posts and Instagram account, Chandra shows her loyal followers that modesty can be absolutely stylish and fabulous.

@modestgoddess_

Emily Smith is a Mormon modest fashion blogger and Instagrammer from Utah who started writing and sharing her outfits in order to increase the number of modest clothing that girls encounter online. Aiming to provide positive examples for those who appreciate fashion modesty, her ideas and hacks on her blog, Modest Goddess, are a daily dose of inspiration.
