Updated: 9 February 2017
The excitement encapsulating Scotland during the months of November through January is second to none; the land is filled with cheer, twinkling lights grace every nook and cranny, the aroma of mulled wine infuses every but and ben and the Christmas markets spring up like a universe of stars. From handmade ornaments and mince pies galore to ice rinks and ferris wheels, discover the best Christmas markets to visit in Scotland this year.

Santa Land, Edinburgh

Every year, the Princes Street Gardens undergo an impressive transformation into Santa Land, a place where the Christmas spirit is present and joy appears in abundance. From delectable eats and a fairground to multiple rides and a market overflowing with presents and toys, it is clear that the elves have been working overtime on this one. Those unafraid of the man in red can visit Santa’s Grotto, after, of course, locating the Elves Workshop nestled discreetly amidst the Christmas tree maze.
