The tiny town of Berneray in the Outer Hebrides may not have been on the top of your list of travel destinations but its dedicated week to all things Berneray might just sway you. Nestled within the wild and rugged landscape of these Scottish Isles, you’ll find a wealth of energy and bustle in Berneray Week 2016 that aims to help you get to know Berneray. Its position off the west coast of Scotland means this small isle is at one with the sea and as such there are plenty of events at which to reacquaint yourself. Visit the Open Day put on by the RNLI and the Coast Guard at Berneray Harbour on Saturday so that you’re ready for the Sandcastle Competition and the Beach BBQ and its variety of food options on Wednesday. The most famous of the Berneray events is the Berneray 10k race that winds around the island that is then celebrated by a concert of Berneray and Uist artists as the climax to the week. Make use of the long summer days and discover this tiny but beautiful part of the world!
