Your Guide to London’s SohoCreate Festival 2016

SohoCreate Festival brings together leaders from the worlds of film, theatre, art, VFX, advertising, food and fashion. Soho Square will be bursting with an assortment of talented creatives as the UK’s biggest festival celebrating creativity, returns for its third year. For one week only (Monday June 6 until Friday June 10, 2016), the capital will play host to a festival of talks, debates, workshops, open houses, pop-ups and parties. To make sure you visit the festival’s most unmissable events, Culture Trip London have found only the best!

 

Electric Theatre Collective

The best way to start this week of festivities is the Electric Theatre Collective, which is created from a group of world class animation directors, immersive content producers, game designers, VR originators, music composers and sound designers. The group produces ground breaking and genre defying work for television and web, which is available to see in this exclusive workshop. The event allows you to get inside the studio of the Electric Theatre Collective and have the sensational opportunity to learn about what makes their effects so special!

Creative Careers Fair

If you cannot decide which events to go to, head over to the Creative Careers Fair and catch bitesize talks from a range of innovative Soho companies, offering an exclusive look into what they are working on. Visit artist Rosemary Cronin’s zine making workshop or explore pop-ups from Microsoft Lift London, Mousetrap Theatre Projects, Picture Central, the Mill and Film London. Creative Business Symposium

Come along to Soho’s The Cube to meet the best creative minds in the business and learn how to transform your bottom line. The Symposium features some of the most established creatives in the UK, including fragrance connoisseur Jo Malone, and Sir John Hegarty, the founder of global advertising agency Bartle Bartle Hegarty. The Minister of State for Culture and the Digital Economy, Ed Vaizey, will be kicking off the festival’s Guardian Live lunchtime debates analyzing how creativity can change lives, business and communities.

The Business of Fashion

Join two of the country’s top fashion designers, Henry Holland and Patrick Grant, as they discuss their business in the competitive world of fashion. Holland is well known from the success of his established international brand, House of Holland, whilst Grant is a recognized figure for his brand Hammond and Co and as the director of Norton and Sons and E. Tautz. Explore the world of fashion as the speakers question how they built their greatly successful brands and what the future of the industry looks like.

The Evolution of Ideas

With an award-winning panel set to inspire, the Evolution of Ideas talk is perfect for the film, theatre or architecture enthusiast. The panel, which is chaired by prominent journalist, interviewer and arts editor Craig McLean, explores the beginning and the journey of a creative idea. The director of the celebrated film documentaries Senna and Amy, Asif Kapadia talks with architect Amanda Levete, and Olivier award-winning playwright Simon Stephens about the process of creation and collaboration in their respective fields.

Dolby Mystery Screening

Sit back and relax after a week of talks, pop-ups, debates and workshops, with this mystery film screening. The unannounced movie will be shown exclusively at this year’s SohoCreate for the first time in Dolby Atmos. Digital Journalism and Trust

Calling all budding journalists and digital media enthusiasts!
