Camille Walala is a design sensation. Her bold, vivid, geometric patterns have adorned everything from iPhone cases to the exteriors of buildings like her brilliant Dream Come True Building in Shoreditch, London. Her collaborations with swimwear company Oioba are sell out and we all covet her forays into interior designs like her handwoven Fixed Rug available at Heal’s.
So when we heard that she had been given the run of NOW Gallery’s space, we couldn’t contain ourselves.
WALALA X PLAY is a ‘temple of wonder’. A puzzle of sorts that has been lifted from the page into real time. The public is invited to interact with the maze of spaces and corridors that are covered in Walala’s outlandish designs. Intended to disorientate, as well as amaze, the installation encourages a sense of play as you navigate your way around zigzagged, mirrored and often confined spaces. Be prepared to get lost in this world of colourful geometric glory.
Due to the show’s popularity, access is now ticketed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So be sure to book your free ticket HERE.
Camille Walala: WALALA X PLAY is at NOW Gallery, The Gateway Pavilions, Peninsula Square, Greenwich Peninsula, London, SE10 0SQ until September 24, 2017.
