Updated: 9 June 2016
Rejoice at the Queen’s official birthday by watching the ceremony of the trooping of the colour. The Household Division will ride on the Horse Guard Parade down the Mall to begin the birthday celebrations. The Queen will attend the parade and take the salute, inspecting the troops before riding at the head of her Guards. The route journeys from Buckingham Palace, along the Mall to the Horse Guard’s Parade, up to Whitehall and back to the Palace. With over 1400 officers and men, 200 horses, 400 musicians from ten bands and corps of drum march, you’ll be immersed in the celebration whilst seeing our beloved Queen ride past. The Queen will end the parade with a salute from the dais at the Palace and watch the Royal Air Force fly over. Watch the parade directly from the Mall or at the edge of St James’s Park, but make sure to get there early as the area is always packed full of eager Londoners and visitors vying to see the famed parade.
