Returning to the National Theatre for the first time in over 30 years, director Polly Findlay will have you in stitches, but also in awe, as Shakespeare’s comedy comedy about love and change speaks volumes. As Rosalind’s father, the Duke, is banished and sworn never to return, she begins her journey to the Forest of Arden with her cousin Celia, leaving behind the lives they had built. Along this journey, Rosalind starts to embrace a new way of living, as she disguises herself as a boy. But that’s not all! This story isn’t just about these changes; Rosalind also falls in love, turning it into a romantic story for the times. Definitely doesn’t seem like the iconic Romeo and Juliet; rather it’s a whole new perspective on love.
