Britannia Hotels has been voted the worst hotel chain in Britain for the FOURTH year running. How bad could it be? Pretty bad as it turns out. ‘Check in’ via real guests’ tweets…

First, get settled in to your room…

…and admire the view…

…followed by a nice soak in the bath…

…and maybe a manicure.

…make friends with other travellers and guests…

…while the helpful staff look after your every need.

…Yawn, time to turn in…

…and enjoy something other than a chocolate on your pillow.

According to Which? magazine’s annual hotel survey, the firm came bottom for the fourth year running with a score of 44%. Customers said its properties were ‘ancient’, ‘very basic’ and ‘in need of updating’. Yet despite all this, the firm, which also owns Pontins holiday camp, has just doubled its profits for 2016. Finally, if you’d rather stay in quirky rather than dirty hotels, here’s our round up of some of the best in Britain.
