If Wonder Woman did fashion, she would be played by Carine Roitfeld – former editor of Parisian Vogue, founder of CR, Uniqlo collaborator and all-round fashion power house. She’s the kind of woman who exudes ‘life goals’ hashtags and makes you want to run back inside your wardrobe to try on everything five gazillion more times before giving up and realising you’ll never have her look. At 62, she still embodies the soul of Parisian chic and her Uniqlo collaboration ensures all kind of women can channel that famous CR style.
Meanwhile, Tim Walker is one of fashion’s most renowned photographers. His fantastical, high-production images usually involve more than a hint of magical realism and are instantly recognisable as his. Walker regularly transforms the pages British Vogue and among many accolades and striking images, he was the man behind the now iconic photograph of Alexander McQueen with a skull.
Tim Walker, Alberta Ferretti AW17 campaign
Featuring models Lineisy Montero, Kiki Willems and Lexi Boling, Walker and Roitfeld looked to Venetian elegance and ideas around dreams for inspiration, creating a series of eight striking images for the Alberta Ferretti campaign. Each model is styled as a goddess, and the images combine a fairy-tale feel with powerful poses.
Bright buttercup yellows, turquoises and monochrome stripes combine in sheer, ethereal designs. Roitfeld’s styling and Walker’s eye are perfectly matched to the dreamy quality of the clothes.
