There’s nothing better than fresh seafood and a crisp glass of wine in a beautiful setting. Happily, the seafood scene in London is booming, so whether you fancy a casual dining experience or something a bit special, here is a list of four restaurants that we think are the best around.

1. The Seafood Bar

Restaurant, Seafood

At this swanky new Soho spot, you’ll see a seafood spread that you’ll likely not find anywhere else in the UK, and perhaps that’s because the Seafood Bar is the fifth outpost of a small Dutch chain. Slurp your way through a platter of oysters, each shell interspersed with sips of a crisp sancerre. Alternatively, follow a starter of silky scallops in a creamy gratin with a gargantuan mixed grill – it’s what everyone else seems to do.

2. Prawn on the Lawn

Fishmonger, Restaurant, Seafood

Growing from fishmonger to popular restaurant, Prawn on the Lawn has gained cult status as the place in North London for high-calibre, fresh seafood. With a focus on seasonal and sustainable dishes, quality abounds here – offerings include ceviche and lightly seared tuna.

3. Wright Brothers

Restaurant, Seafood, Vegetarian

A long-standing London seafood restaurant, Wright Brothers is well-known for its oysters, sourced from its own Cornish oyster farm. Whether serving them ceviche-style or with a pomegranate, balsamic and spring onion twist, this place cooks up mollusc magic. Don’t despair if they’re not your thing, though – the rest of the menu is just as delicious.

4. Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill

Restaurant, Bar, Seafood

Providing sophistication at its finest, Bentley’s is an old-school Mayfair haunt with an oyster bar that’s always buzzing. Although on the pricier side of the spectrum, this is an experience you cannot miss. Tip: try to get a spot at the beautiful marble-topped bar, have a few oysters and sip on some bubbles while watching the world go by.
