Culture Trip spoke with curator Helen Sainsbury about Tate Modern’s major spring summer exhibition, Wolfgang Tillmans: 2017.

As the first photographer to win the Turner Prize in 2000, Wolfgang Tillmans is more than just a purveyor of images, he’s become the documenter of our time. With his innovative display techniques, breadth of media and ability to capture all facets of contemporary culture from club nights to political protests, Tillmans distills Western society into an engaging and voyeuristic carnival. Art & Design editor, Freire Barnes caught up with Helen Sainsbury, co-curator of Tillmans’ first Tate Modern survey to talk about this important contemporary artist.

Wolfgang Tillmans: 2017 is at Tate Modern, Bankside, London, SE1 9TG until June 11, 2017.
