The Photographers’ Gallery for the Mayor of London present Love Happens Here, a free off-site photography exhibition that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales.

Through a number of striking photographs curated by Karen McQuaid, Love Happens Here celebrates as well as explores the struggles of London’s LGBTIQI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer/Questioning, Interested) community.

Spanning decades, the images capture London’s changing cultural landscape.

From Ian David Baker’s brilliant black and white images of early Pride marches and Reggie Blennerhassett’s work that takes you inside the pioneering Labour funded space of the GLC Lesbian and Gay Centre to Emily Rose England’s candid shots of London’s vibrant club scene, Love Happens Here is a vivid and vital portrayal of the pursuit for equality.
