Updated: 5 May 2016
Here’s your chance to live and breathe like a true Scandinavian and celebrate the midsummer nights, as the Norwegians do so well, in a week’s festival of Nordic inspired culture, food, film screenings and music, amidst the leafy grounds of Dulwich Picture Gallery. As part of Museums at Night, the annual UK-wide weekend of late openings at arts and heritage venues, the gallery will be hosting a second festival, Scandimania: Norway and Beyond, inspired by their current exhibition Nikolai Astrup: Painting Norway. Kicking it off with two ‘Scandinights’, artists Sasha Siem, Siv Jakobsen and Eera will be leading the wave with their beautiful Norwegian songwriting, closely followed by outdoor Nordic film screenings and accompanied by the very best Scandi street food. Other highlights include a communal ‘crotchet-a-thon’ by renowned Norwegian designers, Arne and Carlos, Rosemåling painting workshops by Norwegian born artist Bodil Walton and a day of Nordic film to perfectly round off the weekend.
