If you thought Oktoberfest was the only drinking celebration in London this week, think again. London Cocktail Week is back for its 6th year and it promises to be the best yet. With over 250 participating venues in all corners of the city, we take a look at the best places you need to visit.

First Things First…

To make the most of London Cocktail Week, you need to purchase a wristband. This allows guests unlimited £5 cocktails at all sorts of places. Once you have purchased it online you can collect it from two fabulous locations: The World Class London Cocktail Week Hub in Soho, and the London Cocktail Week Village at Old Spitalfields Market. The World Class London Cocktail Week Hub is the place to go for the classiest cocktails around, along with a gift shop and even masterclasses in the Bartender’s Studio. The Village can also be visited all week, offering a heady mix of quirky cocktails, delicious street food and live house music.

The Art Of The Old Fashioned

The best of America comes to London at this unique pop-up bar specialising in Old Fashioned cocktails. Ambassadors of Woodford Reserve Whiskey will be on hand to offer 8 sessions throughout the week at which guests will be guided through the American cocktail’s history, be taught how to make their own cocktails to taste, and learn more about the art of mixology. You’ll even leave with a bottle of the good stuff.

The Dead Parrot Presents ‘The Flying Circus’

Featuring the best Monkey Shoulder Whiskey cocktails in town, this pop-up looks set to be the most spectacularly immersive themed bar around. Promising food, games, prizes and even fire breathing, and much more besides, head down to this wacky whiskey bar for all the fun of the fair. Not only that, you know you’re in for a treat with the cocktails, as the team are the winners of this year’s Ultimate Bartender Challenge

Kingsland Road

Whether you like your whiskey home grown or from across the pond, Kingsland Road has two fabulous pop-ups to tempt you with. Buffalo Bourbon Empire is back again at London Cocktail Week with more of their Buffalo Trace, all the way from Kentucky. As well as classic cocktails and comedic entertainment, the Empire is also offering the chance to sample some of their award-winning Antique Collection. For some smooth, Scottish malt, head down to The Auchentoshan Takeover at Translate Café Bar where their delicious signature cocktail, Auchentoshan Ale, will be drawing in the crowds. You can also enjoy personalised gifts and cocktail workshops until the wee small hours.

Madison

It’s not just pop-ups who are getting in on the action this week. If your cocktail of choice is a drink with a view then head to Madison. The dome of St Paul’s Cathedral dominates the amazing panoramic view this rooftop bar provides. For London Cocktail Week, their special offering is the Cucumber Cooler, a delicate blend of vodka, lime, cucumber and mint. This refreshing cocktail has a hint of summer to it and makes the perfect accompaniment to soaking up evening rays of sun at this classy venue.

24 Hour Bar Build

Dubbed ‘the single most ambitious project’ since London Cocktail Week began in 2010, the 24 Hour Bar Build is sure to see the week end with a bang and close the celebrations with the ultimate cocktail challenge. Teams of the best bartenders from London, Paris, New York and Singapore will battle against each other to create a winning cocktail menu, testing their innovation and flair in mixology. Led by Richard Woods of the iconic Duck & Waffle and Sushi Samba, Team London are in with a fighting chance so come down and cheer on them on.
