Mark Strong Exclusive: 'My Luck With Sequels Isn't Great...'

Culture Trip speaks to Mark Strong about his return to the Kingsman franchise, and the actor tells us that he hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to sequels.

Strong has appeared in some of the biggest films of recent years, and although the success of the first Kingsman film might have come as a surprise to some, the actor himself knew that there was always potential for a follow-up.

The Revolver (2005) star explains how sequels allow the action to start sooner, as there’s no need to set up the characters. Merlin, the character Strong portrays again, also had a potential love story with Halle Berry’s Ginger Ale in the movie, but we find out how that storyline didn’t make the final cut.

Merlin’s Scottish roots were also delved into, and Strong tells us how those origins are a big part of what makes the agent tick.
