Spring may have just finally kicked in, but Novikov Restaurant & Bar has exciting plans coming up to make your summer in the city even better. Get ready for the sun to shine when they host this year’s Mayfair Summer Market in June. Following a hugely successful Mayfair Christmas Market, the area will be transformed once again into a pedestrian-only zone. Expect ice-cold cocktails, flavour-packed food and a selection of top DJs as you enjoy the sounds, tastes and smells of summer. Amongst the stallholders you will be able to find luxury swimwear brands, jewellery, summer accessories and much more. The whole neighbourhood will be in the mood to celebrate, so throw on your prettiest summer outfit and head over to Mayfair for a weekend full of summery vibes.

Last Days Of Shoreditch
Grown from humble beginnings to a giant celebration of food, music and art, Red Market returns for its sixth summer. With planning permission granted for the site and the rapid changes in the area, they will explore the theme, ‘Last Days Of Shoreditch,’ as it probably is their last year. They picked 15 of the finest street food traders for you to enjoy everything from crab salads and burgers to buns with a modern twist. Five bars across the site won’t leave you thirsty, offering cocktails, local craft beers and slushy margaritas for hot summer days. Whilst listening to DJs from East London’s Best Club Night, featuring Xoyo, Love Vinyl and Hoxton FM over a function 1 sounds system, you will be able to enjoy artwork by east London artists set around the site. Red Market also invites sports fans to watch the European championship on their massive LED outdoor screen, showing all the big games or to play a round of golf at Junkyard Golf’s cafe del par. Part market, part club, part gallery, this is an event you don’t want to miss this summer!

One of the biggest and most successful restaurant openings in the beginning of this year was Bao in Soho. The downside is the queue you’re facing. Wanting to give everyone their special food experience, they’re opening a second restaurant in Fitzrovia. The space is slightly bigger, with room for 26 upstairs and 19 more in the basement by the open kitchen, and they will also be offering new dishes. The style will be similar to the original dishes – where you tick what you want – but the menu will feature exciting additions, such as oysters with green chilli pickle, crispy bird feet with hot sauce, crab with rice broth and ox heart with Schezuan dressing. Alongside all these newcomers, expect the usual classic, lamb and fried chicken bao buns.

If you fancy a taste of good mediterranean food, there is something coming up for you. A new restaurant called Sardine is coming to Old Street’s parasol gallery, and will be open all day from breakfast to supper. With meat and fish sourced from the UK and other ingredients coming from Sardinia, Corsica, southern Italy and even North Africa, you can expect a treat for your tastebuds. Stand out meat dishes are planned and will feature leg of lamb à la ficelle, with white beans and anchovy slowly cooked over a fire, and a whole rabbit to share. The menu will offer other dishes, such as hand-made malloreddus with salami, dandelion and ricotta, grilled stuffed sardines and roast quail with fennel and anchovy butter. Sardine’s head chef used to run an Italian restaurant in Dalston, and he also worked at the Dock Kitchen. Come along and indulge into southern european wood-fired cooking!

Meat Up Grill
As we all know, London weather is unpredictable and to be on the safe side, Meat Up Grill brings BBQ inside. With British premium aged steaks, chargrilled lobster, shellfish, ribs marinated with secret spices, burgers and superfood salads, the menu won’t leave wishes open. It’s the perfect venue to go with your friends to enjoy a meal together, as everything is designed to share. And the advantage is, that you don’t have to pack up when the sun goes down, as they serve drinks until dawn, whilst top DJs create an atmosphere that will want to make you get up and dance. Open from brunch onwards to a late night bar, Meat Up Grill offers prosecco, craft beers and a variety of delicious cocktails. The space is separated between a dining room with kitchen counter seating and communal dining, and there will also be a bar with counter top seating and extra seating room outside.

It seems there’s no end in the ever-growing expansion of MEATliquor! After a range of shops across the UK and London, there’s a new one coming to East Dulwich. They’re known for their combination of american styled burgers, chicken wings and cocktails. Served on canteen style trays at shared tables, MEATliquor’s meals bear names like The Dead Hippie, Dirty Chicken Cheeseburger or Monkey Fingers. The menu also offers things like Greek Wings – char-grilled greek-style marinated wings – or the Braai Chicken Burger with a char-grilled braai-spiced chicken fillet, and you can also find some vegetarian options. As you can tell by their name, you can choose from a massive variety of cocktails at MEATliquor, starting from classics like Bloody Mary and Dry Daiquiri to extravagant mixtures like the Donkey Crunch with Finlandia vodka, fresh lime juice, housemade ginger syrup and ginger beer, built over ice with an absinthe rinse. Mamie’s Creperie and Cider Bar
We have exciting news for all Crepe, Galette and Cider lovers! A new creperie and cider bar is coming to covent garden to treat your tastebuds. Focusing on Brittany cuisine, they bridge the gap between traditional Breton food and modern restoration. Mamie’s – the three story restaurant – will offer crepes and galettes with a substantial number of fillings and they’ll also be available to take away. The menu will feature a Forest Gump galette with egg, ham, emmental and sautéed mushrooms as well as a La Bonaparte galette with smoked bacon, sautéed mushrooms and potatoes, St Nectaire, and soured cream. For your sweet tooth, there’ll be La Magritte crepe with home-cooked apples, caramel and vanilla ice cream and a mouth watering La Henri Dès crepe with nutella, half-salted-butter-caramel and marshmallows. To wash your meal down, the basement is reserved for a ciderbar called La Cidrothèque, with ten French ciders from both Brittany and Normandy, as well as some from Britain, Ireland, Sweden, Belgium and even New Zealand.

Eneko at One Aldwych
Built in 1907 for The Morning Post Newspaper, the hotel One Aldwych – located at Covent Garden and one of London’s most acclaimed luxury hotels – is one of the most important Edwardian buildings in London, protected by English Heritage. This summer, Michelin starred chef Eneko Atxa will open a stylish, relaxed Basque restaurant and bar at One Aldwych, that will feature his inventive interpretation of traditional Basque country cuisine. It will be inspired by his restaurant Azurmendi, currently ranked 19 in The World’s Best 50 Restaurants, and Bistro Pret A Porter, which has a Michelin Bib Gourmand. The restaurant and bar will be a first for London, as well as for Eneko who plans to create a modern take on rustic Basque cuisine, based on quality ingredients, simplicity and culinary heritage.

A new Peruvian restaurant from Ceviche Author Martin Morales is set to open its doors on Peruvian Independence Day this July. Casita Andina will be inspired by Peruvian picanterias – family run, customary eateries, serving the neighbourhood – where Martin grew up eating and learning cooking from his grandma’s formulas. The menu will feature customary Andean dishes and snacks, as well as solid Andean superfood fixings, like quinoa, maca and amaranth. The restaurant will offer dishes, like Maca Lamb, a huacatay marinated sheep loin, garlic maca uchucuta, legacy Peruvian potatoes, St George’s mushrooms and pulverized hot cancha, or La Soltera with dark quinoa, green peas, oca, sheep’s lettuce and queso fresco sauce. Creating a relaxing atmosphere, the interior will have the look and feel of an inviting home, with 58 seats set over two little comfortable floors. Barrio Bars is bringing their fourth bar to London. With venues in Shoreditch, Soho, and Angel, their latest neighbourhood bar opened in Brixton, serving up all manners of tequilas and mezcals, to piscos and cachacas. Opened seven days a week and until 2.30am on the weekend, Barrio Bars invites everyone with a love of music in all its worldly genres, an appreciation of upcoming musicians, artists and urban poets, combined with an appetite for food and drinks sourced from all corners. Food wise, they focus on anticuchos – spicy skewers of meat – the kind of street food you’d find in Lima and they offer a variety of snacks, such as chips and salsa, calamari de Cuba, sweet potato fries, nachos, quesadillas and tacos. The bar’s original cocktail creations feature drinks like a Gingerbread Colada, a Tropic Plunder and the Barrio Zombie and they also offer cocktails to share for up to 12 people. The venue has room for 200 people and an outside area to enjoy delicious cocktails and snacks on a night out.

Celebrated for their distinctive mix of reggae, rum and jerk chicken in Soho and Notting Hill, Rum Kitchen will open its third venue in London. The Brixton located store will be their first venue south of the river and it will offer space for 110 people. A mix of charcoal and wood fired ovens, as well as a custom grill and a smoker will turn out jerk chicken, chili cheese burgers and island spiced baby squid. In addition, there will be BBQ pork ribs, coconut, cauliflower and sweet potato curry and a jerk halloumi burger. There’s also a large variety of brunch options available on weekends with the possibility to upgrade to a bottomless brunch. If all the spice will leave you thirsty, you can try one of the 200 rums on offer or some of their delicious cocktails. Focusing on bringing Caribbean beach shack food & cocktails with travel inspired flavours to London, the Rum Kitchen is definitely worth a visit.

The Four Sister’s Townhouse
The owners of The Four Sister’s Bar, Simon Bastable and Andrew Green, are creating another sought-after venue with style, substance and integrity. Opening their second outpost in June, located in the heart of the city in Groveland Court, the 720 sq foot venue will include a collection of eclectic curiosities salvaged from yards around London, as well as traditional features of hardwood oak panelling and Victorian cast iron detailing. The Four Sister’s Townhouse will serve a constantly rotating menu of classic and bespoke cocktails, featuring handmade bitters, tinctures, curds, syrups, sodas and cordials. In addition, they offer a selection of wine and champagne, as well as Camden Town Brewery beer. The Victorian townhouse space will feature a raised seating area with a low ceiling, library wall, old leather wingback chairs and plenty of banquette seatings. To go with the delicious drinks, there will be an artisan food menu of sharing plates and lighter bites.
