All-day drinking and dining? Well, if you insist. The Lighterman, a brand new building spread out over the eastern side of Granary Square in King’s Cross, has just opened its doors. With three glorious floors, the pavilion-style building is a blend of contemporary and traditional and is adorned with a linear brick façade that matches the Granary Building, which lies parallel. Drinkers and diners can indulge the modern British cuisine by Executive Chef Diego Cardoso, perusing a menu that includes expertly sourced meats and seafood from the wood-fired grill: think cured trout with spiced mayo or 28-day dry aged rib eye steak. The Lighterman’s laid-back ground-floor bar serves up everything from breakfast to evening drinks. The top level dining room and bar has floor-to-ceiling glass walls that look out to picturesque views of the square and canal. On a sunny day, the al fresco option is a must.
