As part of London Food Month, Soho’s crisps and dip café HIPCHIPS has teamed up with iconic gin brand Gordon’s to create a load of boozy condiments – and yes, the chips even come in their own snazzy box.
If you’ve never heard of the deep-fried place before (seriously, where have you been), it was set up by head chef Scott Davis –yes, an actual proper chef who’s headed some pretty snazzy restaurants in London town – and serves some of the fanciest British potato varieties out there.
Some might say that this is a sign of the apocalypse, but where else on earth will you be able to watch a load of crisps dished out on a fancy conveyor belt? Oh, and you’ll also be able to see them being prepared, cooked and boxed up as you wait #forthegram.
So what’s on offer? Three delicious (and very English) flavours: ‘Beets, Maple, Feta and Gordon’s Gin’, ‘Lime and Gordon’s Gin Cheesecake’ and ‘Gooseberry, Elderflower and Gordon’s Gin’. All come with their own unexpected and moreish Gordon’s twist. Boxes start from a very doable £6.75 each.
Aside from the gin-based dips, their are oodles of other combos including savoury options like katsu curry, cheese fondue and Moroccan yoghurt. Or if you’ve got a sweet tooth, try the chocolate salted caramel, Nutella, and cheesecake flavours, all paired with crisps sprinkled in cinnamon sugar.
The special Gin-inspired HIPCHIPS boxes will be available throughout June 2017, every day of the week. Pick up your own box at 49 Old Compton Street.
