The London Marathon is back! The 42-kilometre-long course will be flooding with runners aiming to break records, to raise charity, or just to fulfil their own life goal. This year is the 35th consecutive year of the marathon. Created by John Disley and Chris Brasher, who were inspired by the New York Marathon, the event’s aim is to show mankind that they can be united whilst having fun and providing some happiness and sense of achievement to Londoners. The course will be starting in Blackheath, heading east to Charlton and Woolwich, passing the Cutty Sark, crossing the Tower Bridge, progressing along Canary Wharf and Embankment, and ending in front of Buckingham Palace. Whether you are an athletic runner that wants to tick this off their bucket list, or simply an enthusiastic spectator, the London Marathon will be the most exciting event to watch out for this month. If you just want to be intoxicated by the spirit, you can also visit a list of pubs that are participating alongside the course. Ready, Steady…Go!
