The rapper is a huge fan of the gritty show, starring Ashley Walters, and bought the rights last year after it was dropped by Channel 4.
So Solid Crew’s Walters, who plays the main character Dushane, revealed that Drake is currently in talks with the show’s creators. He told the Daily Mirror: ‘We met up to start talking about the show and we are working out a role for him.
‘He loves acting, of course he wanted a part. He’s going to be really hands on and is getting stuck into it.’
Drake got into the show – which revolves around gangs on a council estate in east London – after it was acquired by Netflix. He even tweeted about it back in 2014, with Walters thanking the rapper for his comments.
The actor replied: ‘Shouts to Drake for posting about Top Boy this morning. It’s positive to see that the rest of the world is learning about UK street culture.’
Drake even name checked the show on his 2015 track ‘Know Yourself’.
The rapper already has plenty of acting experience after starring in the soap Degrassi: The Next Generation for six years as well as parts in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013) and Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012).
