We love all things Oktoberfest here at Culture Trip – the beer, the traditional costumes, the singing – it’s all great Germanic fun.But this is London, and sometimes we like to do things a little differently, so this autumn, an anti-Oktoberfest is coming to top East London bar, The Last Days of Shoreditch.
The event is hoping to take all the best bits of a traditional Oktoberfest (beer, music and good times) and add a little East London magic. Entertainment is provided by a host of stage acts, including Bavarian break dancers, Hasselhoff karaoke sessions and street magicians. There’s also a bratwurst eating challenge as well as a giant ball pit slide. It’ll be, according to the website, ‘oktoberfest, meets the Rio carnival, meets the best party you’ve ever been to’.
Of course there’ll be a few nods to tradition, namely lots of lovely beer to drink as well as bratwurst cooked in sauerkraut and traditional schnitzels to tuck in to. Finally they’ll be an oompah band, only this one will be playing cover versions of classic pop hits. It’s all going to be peak Shoreditch.
Shoreditch Oktoberfest takes place 22nd September to 6th October, tickets for two of the four days the festival is on for have sold out, so get your tickets here asap www.shoreditchoktoberfest.com.
