The third event of its kind, the London Pizza Festival will take place on Sunday May 28, 2017 at Borough Market (hurry though, as tickets sell out super-fast). The man behind the marvellous concept is Daniel Young of Young and Foodish, a rather celebrated pop-up connoisseur, food critic and writer who penned the global ‘Where to Eat Pizza’ guide. He’s a cheese god basically.
So what’s it all about then? Well, it’s very simple. Six pizza snobs (don’t worry, they are lovely) go head-to-head offering their slices to the Great British Public (and a few tourists too) in the hope of being crowned the best pizza makers in town. Those competing in the epic pizza war include L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, who already claim they serve up the best pies in the world; Hoxton’s Radio Alice; Sud-Italia; Napoli on the Road; Addommè and last year’s winners, Made of Dough.
Oh and don’t worry, where there’s pizza there’s booze too. This year, Skinner’s brewery will be bottling up a load of fancy craft ales (of course), and if you’re not a drinker, even sponsors Ferrarelle will be giving punters bottles of free water. And because this is an Italian shindig, you’ll be pleased to know that Casa Cannoli and Sorbitum Ices will be dishing out your fav desserts.
Tickets for the London Pizza Festival cost £28 and can be booked online on the Young and Foodish website.
