The Drone Racing Experience, to be hosted in Regent’s Place Plaza, between London’s King’s Cross and Paddington, is free to attend and will take place from Thursday, August 17 to Saturday, August 19, 10am–6pm .
Each day will begin with guests trying out the controls and experiencing new ‘first person view’ technology (FPV) via a simulator, effectively putting them in the pilot seat of the drone while wearing special goggles. Guests will then have the rare opportunity to navigate a drone through an obstacle course, receiving a great taster to the sport.
Experts from the UK Drone Show will be showcasing their piloting skills and flying an ‘autonomous’ drone controlled through an app. Attendees will also have the chance to buy a drone to take home with them.
The Drone Racing Experience is part of the Life Meets Tech initiative, a series of ‘innovative, interactive events exploring the future of technology,’ taking place throughout the city this summer.
The event follows the Drone Racing League’s Allianz World Championship, held last month in London’s Alexandra Palace. Be sure to meet the pilots of this high-tech sport in our interview.
