Set in a super safe private woodland in the property’s 46-acre (18.6ha) land, you can ramble to your heart’s content before returning to one of the log cabins or lodges, which are available in a great range of sizes to suit all families. Every log cabin and lodge comes with its own hot tub, perhaps best enjoyed after the kids have gone to bed.

A 20-minute drive from CBeebies Land at Alton Towers, this delightful Tudor-style property is in the Peak District – a fab option if you love a good countryside walk or cycle during your trip. Bentley Brook Inn offers double, twin and family rooms – many of which are pet-friendly – as well as a family apartment, all elegantly presented with comfy furnishings. There’s a fantastic restaurant on-site, with a huge outdoor garden and seating area, serving delicious burgers, pizzas and pub favourites – plus a kids menu.

An independent pub and guesthouse based in a renovated Georgian coaching inn, Royal Oak Inn is just outside the lovely market town Ashbourne and only a 15-minute drive to CBeebies Land. It’s a family affair at this enchanting guesthouse, run by lovely owners Ann and Peter. The cosy bedrooms are plumped up with fluffy pillows and snuggly duvets to ensure a deep sleep after all the excitement at CBeebies Land. There’s a good range of family, twin and double rooms in the Garden Wing – or for a big family reunion trip, hire out the stables, which can sleep eight guests over three bedrooms. The Garden Wing overlooks a magical walled garden with a koi carp pool – a favourite with young guests who love feeding the fish from the bridge. A sumptuous breakfast is included in your stay, made from locally sourced ingredients.

There are crisp, bright bedrooms in the main house or the Apple Tree Chalet – a self-contained, spacious option perfect for families or couples looking for a private home from home. A delicious, hearty breakfast is provided, with free-range pork sausages, local Derbyshire bacon and fresh eggs from the nearby farm.

Gracious hosts Phil and Helen provide a real home from home at the Laurels B&B, less than five minutes’ drive from CBeebies at Alton Towers. Located in the picturesque village of Oakamoor, the Laurels boasts splendid views across the valley and nearby woodland. It’s a bed and breakfast with a true rural feel, and an ideal place to introduce mini city slickers to nature. Helen cooks a full English breakfast including locally sourced pork sausages and black pudding, as well as bacon, eggs and mushrooms – but if you’re in the mood for something lighter, continental style is up for grabs too.
