Tucked down an alley next to Pulteney Bridge, Opium is well worth seeking out. This hip bar describes itself as Bath’s best known secret and has its own distinct character. The interiors are a mixture of styles – everything from Victoriana to Renaissance – and the effect is enticingly decadent. If you’re feeling flush, you can even book the ‘secret room’ with its own entrance, private bar and big-screen karaoke.
