Brighton is known for bringing the party – but it’s also designed with lovers in mind, and a romantic weekend away. Expect rose petals in bath tubs, champagne on request and stellar views from its hotels, of which some boast themed rooms ranging from the sophisticated to the salacious.

This Kemptown hotel capitalises on its plum seafront location, only a 10-minute walk to the Royal Pavilion. Settle into a roll-top bath with a champagne flute in-hand for the best views over the Channel and the twinkling lights of Palace Pier. Looking to impress your partner? Ask the team for rose petals in the tub, in-room massages and even “adult” hampers. Round off your evening at Amarillo Restaurant with red mullet and crab bisque courtesy of former Michelin-star chef Ian Swainson.

Brighton’s self-proclaimed “original rock’n’roll” hotel invites you for an adults-only getaway in a salacious themed room. Think a leopard-printed spa room dedicated to pin-up icon Bettie Page (Bettie’s Boudoir), and a private entrance, mirrored ceiling and dance pole in its flagship Lovers’ Lair suite. Enjoy breakfast in bed if you wake with a sore head, before enjoying a massage. The hotel is the destination here, but you’ll also find the beach and i360 are two minutes away.

The bistro holds regular wine-tasting events from its enormous selection, plus it serves a mean Sunday roast.

A buzzy atmosphere permeates this stylish boutique on Regency Square, where textbook hipster bartenders mix limoncello and thyme sours, and Turkish rugs decorate distressed dark wood floors. Each room is different, but all come equipped with retro Roberts radios and Nespresso coffee machines. Every Monday to Wednesday, The Set Restaurant pops up with a 14-course, three-hour dining experience inspired by seasonal British ingredients.

Each of Hotel Una’s bedrooms could be mistaken for the spa. The Belize and Flores suites have whirlpool baths – Belize even has its own sauna – and all rooms have White Company toiletries and fluffy robes. Friendly staff have a wealth of local restaurant knowledge – but before heading out, enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif in the Una Bar, which is well-stocked with rare vintage spirits. Palace Pier and the upscale attractions of Hove are a 15-minute walk in either direction from its Regency Square location.
