Updated: 30 June 2016
Starting with a bang — literally, there will be fireworks Friday evening — Cambridge’s Big Weekend returns with a theme centred around Health and Wellbeing. With record numbers of visitors travelling to Cambridge to be a part of the festivities, show stopping artists will perform alongside many stalls set up to entertain and enjoy. From games to workshops, storytelling to face painting and even a pop art gallery, there is plenty for everyone. A variety of food stalls will also keep everyone fuelled, from Greek Food at Borakis, fudge from Funkie Fudge, gluten- and dairy- free chutney and chilli sauce available at Madame Sunshine, and cakes, quiche and brownies sold by the slice at George’s Bakery… do we hear those tummies rumble? However, the biggest celebration is of the ethnic diversity portrayed in the traditional Cambridge Mela, a summer celebration of Asian Culture, upon close. Trust us, you don’t want to miss this!
