The clever concept from Ten Fold doesn’t need any machinery, hard graft or even foundations – all you need, unbelievably, is a hand-held drill to construct it. Ten Fold has come up with a range of different products that can be used for many purposes, from eco-hotels and beach huts, to portable classrooms and medical centres.
Once off the lorry, the structure opens up a bit like an accordion, expanding three times its original size to a generous 64 square metres (689 square feet). What’s great is it can fold back up again just as fast to be transported to a new location when you decide to move, saving a lot of money in the process.
It’s designed to be ultra flexible, with internal walls that can be moved and even stacked, meaning the house can grow and adapt with your future needs. Eco-warriors will also love the fact that there’s the ability to opt for a totally off-grid design, complete with solar panels.
Perhaps the greatest thing about this unique concept is that it’s actually affordable – the UK brand’s structures having a starting price of £100,000 (US$129,000), making it a viable house of the future.
