Shakespeare’s As You Like It In The Savill Garden

Picture of Francesca Hobson
Updated: 26 May 2016
Join this unusual and innovative performance of Shakespeare’s As You Like It to mark the 400th anniversary of the bard’s death. Performed by Watch Your Head, this pastoral comedy comes to life within the Savill Garden. Watch Rosalind and Orlando be forced into exile by their families and escape together into the Forest of Arden. The pair discover The Golden Age and a travelling circus, while Jacques welcomes the circus folk and reflects on the futility of life and love. Sound like a standard viewing of the Bard’s original play? Never fear, as the show follows the storyline around the Savill Garden. The play walks you through the setting as you tail the cast through the gardens, the venue becoming a part of the production. Feel even more involved in the play as the final scene ends with the wonderful wedding scene, allowing you to sit down and partake in the feast with the actors, almost as if you were invited to the wedding.
