Dua Lipa has made history on YouTube after becoming the youngest female singer to reach a staggering one billion views for a music video.
The video for ‘New Rules’, taken from her self-titled debut album, hit the milestone this week.
The 22-year-old star shared her excitement with fans on Instagram posting a picture of herself as a child with the caption: ‘I picked up the phone and found out I am the youngest female artist to hit 1 BILLION views on a music video.’
The singer has previously said that the video helped to catapult the track to chart success.
She told Billboard: ‘Everyone was reposting it and sending it to their friends, and I was just like, “What is happening?”
‘Like, the views were just soaring, and that’s just never happened before. It was like rocket fuel for the song.’
That’s not the only record that Dua has broken recently though.
Last month, the star received the most nominations that any female artist has ever received at a single Brit Awards ceremony – even more than Adele.
The singer is up for British Female, British Breakthrough, British Album, British Single and British Video.
This year’s Brits is taking place on February 21 at the O2 Arena in London.
