He’s the rapidly rising butcher mesmerising us with his meat handling skills and techniques, but who is #Saltbae?

Who Is #Saltbae?

Saltbae’s real name is Nusret Gökçe, and he owns a chain of steakhouse restaurants called Nusr-et in Turkey. The name is apparently a pun, with ‘et’ meaning meat in Turkish. The son of a miner, and one of five children, Nusret left school (only his younger brother completed his education) and became a butcher’s apprentice. In 2009 he traveled to Argentina to refine his craft, spending three months on farms, in the company of talented butchers and eating in restaurants.

Why #Saltbae?

Twitter christened Nusret #Saltbae because of his unique way of scattering the salt down his forearm as he seasons his meat (and because he’s a bae).
