What To Do For Halloween 2016 In Amsterdam

Halloween is almost upon us and Amsterdam is bracing itself for the arrival of legions of undead party-goers. At the end of October the city will be hosting several spine-chilling events to appease its unearthly denizens, and we’ve put together a list of the best things to do during this devilish holiday.

Amsterdam Halloween Party 2016

Every Halloween Westergasfabriek is taken over by a gang of horror aficionados and transformed into a spooky playground for the deceased and undead. The party only admits suitably dressed mortals and expects guests to drape themselves in killer outfits. DJs will be playing in several venues around Westergasfabriek and the party will go on until dawn.

Halloween at Noorderlicht

At night, Amsterdam’s northern docklands becomes an eerie place. The area is filled with derelict industrial buildings and overlooks the river Ij’s shimmering tidewaters. During Halloween Noorderlicht Café will be hosting a 24-hour scare-fest on Amsterdam’s northern shores. In the evening the venue transforms its main chambers into a spooky ballroom that is reserved for adult ghouls and goblins.

Club Nyx- Hallow Queen

Club NYX is Amsterdam’s largest gay club and will be hosting a celebrity themed costume party for Halloween. Guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite deceased rock-star or starlet , and relive their icon’s glory years in NYX’s blacked out dance hall.

Amsterdam Ghost Walk

Amsterdam Ghost Walk explores the city’s darkest corners. The tour makes its way through the city’s winding canals, ancient tombs and ghostly landmarks to uncover the morbid history that continues to haunt present day Amsterdam. Each walk is conducted by an experienced guide dressed in a heavy black cloak who is well acquainted with the ghosts, witches and demons that have plagued Amsterdam throughout the years. Although the tour takes places all year round, a special, longer walk will be held for Halloween.

Hotel Arena Makeup Session

Before heading over to Amsterdam’s main festivities, revelers can flesh out their costumes with the help of professional makeup artists at Hotel Arena. An enticing selection of refreshments will be on offer while the artists add prosthetics and fake blood to their willing victims.

Mr. Horror’s Halloween Horror Show

Once again, Mr. Horror will be presenting a terrifying selection of movies at the Pathé Tuschinski theater. The night will showcase four horror films back-to-back, and its schedule is set to include: Ouja: Origin of Evil, Southbound and The Windmill Massacre.
