Updated: 28 September 2016
ADE is now in its 20th year and remains the largest club festival in the world. Its mammoth line-up is spread over five consecutive days (October 19-23) and features thousands of DJ’s. The events take place in over 200 venues throughout Amsterdam, including Paradiso, de School and OT301. We’ve put together a short roundup of some of the must-see events at this year’s ADE.

KAFR (Rabih Beaini & Senyawa) + Ash Koosha

📅 Wednesday, October 19

ADE has teamed up with The Rest is Noise to create this outstanding event that brings together an incredible mix of experimental dance music. KAFR is a joint venture between Berlin based producer Rabih Beaini and Indonesian duo Senyawa, that fuses traditional folk music with Western electronica. The collective will be supported by Ash Koosha who is set to perform his genre-defying EDM (Electronic Dance Music) that draws from the British and Iranian underground scene.

Tickets: €15

📍 Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, Piet Heinkade 1, Amsterdam, +31 20 788 2000

📅 Thursday, October 20

Earlier this year Skepta took home the Mercury Prize for his groundbreaking album Konnichiwa. The London-based MC is a leading figure in Britain’s Grime scene and with his latest release returns to the genre’s raw, unflinching approach to hip-hop, deftly layering explosive loops over jarring, sardonic vocals.

Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and BEA1991

📅 Friday, October 21

Avant-garde composer Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith makes electronic music that reinterprets acoustic, almost natural sounds through synthetic compositions, creating flittering interfaces that gracefully flow between machine-made and organic soundscapes. She will be joined by BEA1991, a promising Dutch electronic chanteuse who has been endorsed by LesInRocks and Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes.

Tickets: €12

NGHTDVSN has booked an unbelievable line-up for its first night at ADE. Max Cooper, Kiasmos, Stephan Bodzin and Extrawelt are all set to play and will be performing inside of Het Sieraad. This iconic building has been serving Amsterdam’s nightlife since 1924 and is now a registered monument. The night’s programme will drift between melodic techno and synthetic scores infused with string-quartet samples.
