1. Brasserie Lipp

Want to feel like you have stepped back in time? Then visit Brasserie Lipp, an Art-Deco wonder that is a perfect copy of its Parisian counterpart and which is particularly famed for its fish specialities. Here you will find all the best of French cuisine, plus exciting cocktails and an extensive wine list. Along with its beautiful Belle Époque dining room, Lipp has a rooftop bar, Jules Verne, from which you can enjoy an incredible view over Zurich. Just one floor above the bar, there is an observatory, so you can even view the night stars.

Although Central Europe is famous for its ‘meat and potatoes’ culinary tradition, Zurich is actually home to the first vegetarian restaurant in the world, according to the Guinness World Records. Haus Hiltl has been serving vegetarian specialities since 1898. Guests can dine at the à la carte restaurant with waiter service, or go for the Hiltl Buffet, where they can choose from over 100 home-made delicacies, freshly squeezed fruit juices and much, much more.

5. Dine in the dark at Blindekuh

Blindekuh is the original and much-imitated ‘dine in the dark’ restaurant. Visitors must learn to trust their nose, their taste buds, and even their ears and hands while making their way through dishes prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The mission behind Blindekuh is to “foster dialogue between sighted people and those with visual impairments,” and the majority of their wait staff are blind or partially sighted.

Every Wednesday you can find a lively market in the main hall of the train station with stalls selling fresh products from all over the country like speciality bread, cheeses and meats. Helvetiaplatz hosts a year-round market selling home-grown fruits and vegetables, as well as delicacies from countries around the world. Want to shop with a view? Bürkliplatz turns into a farmers market twice a week; find freshly cut blooms, fresh fish and organic produce at this beautiful, lakeside location.

Fondue with a twist

Sure, cheese fondue may sound a little mainstream… but what about eating it on the move? You can now dine on the world’s first Fondue eTukTuk with three of your friends, and enjoy delicious, gooey cheese while driving past some of Zurich’s most scenic spots.
