Pronovias

One of Spain’s most famous and oldest bridal brands, Pronovias began life as El Suizo, a prestigious Barcelona store founded in 1922 that specialised in lace, silk and other high-quality fabrics. The brand revolutionised bridal wear in the early 1960s when it hired designer Alberto Palatchi Ribera, who pioneered ready-to-wear wedding dresses, making the intricate and beautifully designed pieces available for every woman. The company started expanding abroad in the 1970s and today, Pronovias is one of the world’s leading bridal brands, with 4,000 points of sale in 105 countries, as well as 44 flagship stores. The brand is renowned for its glamour and contemporary designs, and for making every bride feel like a star.

With a philosophy based around high-quality dresses, every one of Jesús Peiro’s designs is manufactured in Spain, using the best quality materials and the finest local know-how. Founded in 1988, the brand’s refined style is handcrafted, making each dress a unique testament to its makers’ skills. Today, the brand is global, with over 200 points of sale in over 20 countries.

Inmaculada Garcia

With creations designed for ‘daring and passionate brides’, Inmaculada Garcia’s dresses are not for shrinking violets. Bold designs featuring edgy silhouettes and detailing, but always with a feminine, romantic aesthetic, abound in the Barcelona-based designer’s collections. Garcia started on the path to becoming a designer by at the age of 13 by making jackets for her friends from scraps of material. Today, she is one of Spain’s leading bridal designers, and her dresses are sold around the world.

Marco & Maria

Tenerife-based Marco Marrero and María Díaz started their careers in 1990 when they opened a dressmaking workshop in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife. They hit the international fashion headlines in 2000 when they exhibited their designs in Paris. The brand’s dresses feature beautiful embossing in taffetas, tulles and silks, with vintage inspirations and touches giving a nostalgic nod to contemporary designs.

Yolan Cris

The new breed of wedding-dress designer is perfectly encapsulated in Barcelona-based brand Yolan Cris, launched by sisters Yolanda and Cristina. The sisters grew up around wedding dresses, as their mother owned a bridal boutique, and they have now put their knowledge to good use designing eye-catching dresses with a romantic, bohemian edge. The brand’s 2016 range included the collections ‘Boho Folk Bridal’ and ‘Romantic Lace Bridal’, while 2017’s includes ‘Boho Chic Bride’. Designer Rosa Esteva brings a heavy dose of Mediterranean cool to her bridal designs, which feature floaty fabrics and a boho vibe throughout. Esteva, inspired by her birthplace of Majorca, designs effortlessly stylish gowns for a feminine, romantic look. One of Spain’s hottest young bridal designers, this is a name to watch. Each Cortana wedding dress is custom made in a Barcelona atelier and the gowns are available in a range of international boutiques as well as stores in Barcelona, Madrid and Palma de Mallorca.
