Valencia is a city brimming with creative energy, evident in everything from its many musical performances to its abundance of avant-garde street art murals. So it’s little surprise that the city also excels when it comes to creative fashion design. If you want to update your wardrobe with a slice of truly Valencian style, here’s our pick of the established and up-and-coming designers you need to know about.

Francis Montesinos

One of the most celebrated local designers. Montesinos is famous for combining different concepts – such as mixing the boho aesthetic of southern Spanish folk style with details from Greek mythology – to create bold, complex designs. Of course, some designs were also inspired closer to home, with some looks taking cues from the traditional regional costume of Valencia. Check out his designs on his website, where those looking for a piece of his work can make an appointment to visit his studio in Valencia.

1. Alex Vidal

Another of the brightest stars in Spain’s fashion world. Vidal’s 35-year career has seen him work at the Bluemarine and Valentino studios and then create his own brand, Álex Vidal, in 1980. In 1982, the first Alex Vidal boutique opened on Calle Sorní in Valencia, soon followed by two more. His collections are characterized by a sophisticated, sexy, urban style.

2. Tonuca

Local designer Tonuca creates functional, practical clothing for women without compromising on style and creativity. After studying design and Fine Arts, Tonuca began her foray into the fashion world in 1998, and a year later opened her first boutique in her home city of Valencia. Her designs have since been seen on catwalks from Milan to Paris. In the Valencia boutique you’ll find a selection of creative yet wearable items with shoes and accessories to match.

After creating numerous collections, she became known for her elegant designs, making a name for herself elsewhere in Spain as well as on the Parisian fashion scene. Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
