Valencia is a city brimming with creative energy, evident in everything from its many musical performances to its abundance of avant-garde street art murals. If you want to update your wardrobe with a slice of truly Valencian style, here’s our pick of the established and up-and-coming designers you need to know about.
One of the most celebrated local designers. Montesinos is famous for combining different concepts – such as mixing the boho aesthetic of southern Spanish folk style with details from Greek mythology – to create bold, complex designs. Of course, some designs were also inspired closer to home, with some looks taking cues from the traditional regional costume of Valencia. Check out his designs on his website, where those looking for a piece of his work can make an appointment to visit his studio in Valencia.
Another of the brightest stars in Spain’s fashion world. Vidal’s 35-year career has seen him work at the Bluemarine and Valentino studios and then create his own brand, Álex Vidal, in 1980. In 1982, the first Alex Vidal boutique opened on Calle Sorní in Valencia, soon followed by two more. His collections are characterized by a sophisticated, sexy, urban style.
