It’s not hard to see why this Balearic Island is popular with families. From pirate-themed resorts to luxury spa hotels with kids’ clubs, these are the best family hotels in Mallorca if you’re travelling with youngsters – all bookable with Culture Trip.

It’s an oft-quoted maxim on holiday that if the kids are happy, the parents are happy. While plenty of hotels in Spain claim family-friendly status, not all can guarantee enough activities and entertainment to keep the kiddies content for the whole stay. Culture Trip has picked the top family-friendly places to stay in Mallorca that do just that – and even some that allow mum and dad some precious time away from the little darlings.

1. Son Brull Hotel & Spa

Luxury, Boutique Hotel, Spa Hotel

This converted 18th-century monastery is unarguably one of the best luxury hotels on the island. While five-star sophistication and kids don’t usually go hand-in-hand, Son Brull more than accommodates. Their two-bedroom Villa Suites are particularly family-friendly and come with private heated pools – under-12s are not allowed at the main pool. The hotel has also teamed up with a local adventure club aimed at kids that takes them on exciting activities in the area, leaving parents to enjoy the luxe spa facilities in peace.

2. Robinson Club Cala Serena

If you’re one of those families who don’t like to sit still on holiday, the Robinson Club Cala Serena is for you. Firstly, it’s spread over a whopping 12ha (30 acres), with a long list of sports facilities, including tennis and golf. A focus on exploring the surroundings also means loads of cycling options, plus rafting, hiking and horse-riding trips can be easily arranged. Kids’ clubs organise age-appropriate activities, too – plus there’s no shortage of relaxation options at this Mallorcan family-friendly hotel when you finally want to flop.

4. Club Mac

For the full-on resort experience with the added bonus of an all-inclusive plan as standard, families with kids need to look no further than Club Mac. With around 1,000 rooms, it’s one of the largest hotels on the island. Eight pools and an extensive animation programme means kids are never short of somewhere to splash or something to do. There’s also the extra perk of free entry to the neighbouring waterpark.

5. Pirates Village Apartments

Serviced Apartment

Part pirate-themed amusement park, part aparthotel, this playful property is a sure-fire hit with most younger kids. The pirate theme runs almost throughout the resort, with the Pirate Cave Kids Club, pirate shows, various pools, splash areas and waterslides all guaranteed to keep smaller guests entertained. An all-inclusive plan makes it easier for families on a budget, while apartment accommodation all comes with kitchenettes and – you guessed it – pirate-themed motifs.

6. Hotel Maristel & Spa

Boutique Hotel

Ideal for a nature-orientated family break, this rustic boutique is situated in the foothills of the Unesco-protected Tramuntana mountains, close to hiking, biking and running trails. The two-bedroom Family Suite provides access to a shared terrace, plus a kitchenette with an oven and hobs. The in-house restaurant at this hotel for families in Mallorca is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves Mediterranean cuisine prepared with the island’s freshest produce.

7. Sa Vinya des Convent

Families checking into this converted farmhouse in Inca have two options – a country-style bungalow with a double room, single sofa bed and kitchenette, or an opulent family suite, in which two double bedrooms are connected by a private terrace. Lounge by an outdoor pool surrounded by fruit trees, vineyards and olive groves, or rent bikes from reception and explore Mallorca’s third-largest town on two wheels: it’s known for producing quality leather goods and old wine cellars converted into restaurants.

8. Viva Blue & Spa

Resort, Spa Hotel

Both kids and adults are entertained at this all-inclusive four-star family-friendly hotel in Alcudia, the largest resort town in northern Mallorca. Little ones have access to a playground, a pool with a pirate boat and a club that arranges daily activities. Older guests, meanwhile, can unwind in the jacuzzi or sip cocktails around a smaller, adults-only pool. Stay in a one-bedroom apartment with sofa bed, or a two-bedroom flat with bunk beds.

9. Zafiro Palace Alcudia

This 369-room resort is situated just back from Alcudia’s marina, surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars. Not that there’s much need to leave the premises, though. Within flip-flopping distance of your two-bedroom family suite – available with either a balcony, private pool or a roof terrace with jacuzzi – are five restaurants, a spa and gym, pirate pool, swim-up bar and a training pool with four lanes. Kids also have access to activity clubs – for little ones right up to teenagers – offering everything from bouncy castles to mini golf.
