You can’t beat a pool with a view, and put one on a rooftop and you instantly have some of the best panoramas in the area. From urban cityscape vistas to glorious infinity-pool sea views, we’ve tracked down the best rooftop pools on the island of Mallorca.

1. Iberostar Bahía de Palma

Chain Hotel, Spa Hotel

A sleek, contemporary adults-only hotel, the Iberostar Bahía de Palma has everything you need to relax and unwind, with the bonus of being a two-minute walk from the sands of Playa de Palma. The highlight of this hotel is its fantastic rooftop, with sun terrace and infinity pool. The pool itself is quite spectacular and takes the infinity-edge to whole new level, with one end of the pool overhanging the roof, like a clear glass trough with direct views to the goings-on below and out to sea. Definitely not a pool for the faint-hearted.

2. HM Balanguera

Located in a leafy suburb of the island’s capital, the HM Balanguera certainly feels more out of the way than most. And head up to the roof of this beautifully styled property and you really are in a world of your own, with a lovely long swimming pool sheltered by a line of leafy bushes. The scene looks more beach hut than urban bolthole, with reclaimed wooden beams and crisp white canvas, though with views over the cityscape and out to the Tramuntana Mountains.

3. Hotel Sant Francesc

Set in quieter side of Palma’s richly historic Old Town, the Hotel Sant Francesc oozes effortless style from its beautiful period-chic reception to its gorgeous rooftop terrace overlooking the eponymous church. Most of the original neoclassical features of this 19th-century mansion have been meticulously restored, but with a light contemporary touch that makes for achingly eye-pleasing results. But it’s not all aesthetics, with an outstanding fine dining restaurant, high-tech in-room amenities, and a rooftop swimming pool with an excellent poolside sushi bar that puts the icing on one very luxurious cake.

5. Hotel Cap Rocat

Boutique Hotel

Guests can enjoy seamless sky-meets-sea-meets-pool views over the Bay of Palma from this impressive former fortress. The saltwater infinity pool at the luxurious five-star Hotel Cap Rocat may be incredible, but it’s the private pools belonging to some of the rooms that will take your breath away. The three Sentinel suites are deliciously secluded, carved out of the rocks that the fortress was built into, with cliff-edge terraces and private infinity pools featuring unobstructed views of the setting sun.

6. BQ Aguamarina Boutique Hotel

This 56-room low-key hotel overlooks the beach in the small resort of Can Pastilla, just 15 minutes from Palma. The 2016 renovations included the rooftop terrace with space to enjoy drinks, and an infinity-edge pool with spectacular sea views. The pool is not huge (more for cooling off than actual swimming), but it is nonetheless a fantastic addition to the hotel, and a great place to relax and take in the views.

We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way.
