This smart enclave of the Balearic’s buzziest island is home to several affordable hotels, ideal for families and couples seeking a budget-friendly yet relaxing White Isle escape.
On the island’s sunny southeastern side, Ibiza’s third-biggest town is an oasis of calm away from the party-loving resorts further down the coast. The whitewashed Puig de Missa fortified church stands on a hill above the town, there’s an Ethnographic Museum in an old farmhouse and a colonnaded town hall overlooking the main square. With a palm-lined seafront promenade and white-sand beach, the town’s hotels, bars and traditional restaurants fan out around the water and the yacht-dotted marina. Family-friendly and leisurely, but heading inexorably upmarket, Santa Eulalia retains a range of places to stay suitable for all budgets.
Located close to Es Cana Beach, Hostal Los Pinos is an excellent choice for couples on a budget. Small and intimate with just 10 rooms, you’ll have a lot of space to yourself. Close by at the hotel’s sister accommodation, Es Cañe Apartments, there’s also a restaurant and Charlie’s Bar for live entertainment.
The one-star Hostal Cala Boix is situated in one of the most picturesque areas of Santa Eulalia – Sant Carles de Peralta – and is just 50m (165 feet) from Cala Boix beach. It’s one of the most unique beaches on the island thanks to its black sand and location surrounded by small villages. The rooms are spacious and modern, with wooden furniture and marble floors. The highlight, however, is the lush garden with sun loungers and a large pool.
Situated in the centre of Santa Eulalia del Rio town, the Hostal Santa Eulalia lies close to several restaurants and bars and is only a seven-minute walk to the beach. On the ground floor, you’ll find the Cafetería Brisol where you can enjoy three-course menus of the day, filled baguettes and other delicious snacks.
Located in the northeast of the island in the small town of Cala Leña, Club Cala Azul lies 3km (1.86mi) from San Carlos and 10km (6mi) from Santa Eulalia del Rio town, providing modern, budget accommodation close to the coast. It offers a large assortment of rooms, apartments and suites, ideal for everyone from couples to families. The apartments can sleep up to five people and have all the necessary amenities such as washing machines and kitchens.
The three-star FERGUS Paraiso Beach is situated in Es Canar close to the beach. The rooms are classic and stylish and offer views of the pool or the town below. They also come with all the facilities you’d expect from a modern hotel, from flat-screen TVs to tea and coffee-making machines, while there’s also a large central pool, a restaurant and live entertainment.
