If you’d rather eat out, the town’s pretty beachfront promenade, lined with numerous restaurants, is a five-minute walk away. The larger Playa Dorada is also within an easy stroll, 10 minutes on foot.

Las Casitas is a whitewashed complex in Playa Blanca resort made up of small bungalows, sleeping between two and six guests. Decor is colourful and homely, and all bungalows come with cooking and lounging areas. You can also sizzle some sausages on the patio barbecue. Dorada and Flamingo beaches are a 15-minutes walk away, but most choose to spend time by the resort’s large heated swimming pool with sun beds and poolside bar.

This one-bedroom duplex apartment is located in Punta Mujeres, close to the northern tip of the island. Inside it’s bright and comfortable and can sleep three.
