There’s nothing like a bunch of screaming kids splashing around the pool to seriously spoil your holiday vibe. And while Mallorca is certainly a super family-friendly destination, it’s no surprise that many visitors come to seek out the peace and quiet of a child-free experience. Here’s a selection of the best hotels on the island exclusively for grown-ups.

With its distinctive red-tile architecture dating from the 60s, a 2015 update transformed the Gran Melia de Mar into a super swish adults-only property. Although just a few miles west of the capital, its setting is superb, overlooking the crystal-clear waters together with two small sandy beaches – one of which is exclusive to hotel guests. An infinity pool features lovely sea views, surrounded by plenty of daybeds perfect for romancing couples, and it’s also unsurprisingly a particularly popular destination for honeymooners.
Voted the number one adults-only hotel on the island by TripAdvisor users, Hotel Astoria Playa is certainly an outstanding place to get away from the little ones. There are two fabulous swimming pools and several Jacuzzis for couples to luxuriate in, while whirlpool tubs for two can also be enjoyed from the privacy of top-level suites. Pick from several packages to add the likes of sparkling wines, chocolates, and even ‘sensual sets’ for a little extra romantic zhoosh during your stay.
Set at the quieter end of the popular Palmanova resort, this adults-only option oozes sunny, laid-back style. It has a ‘shabby chic meets beach house’ vibe, with an intimate boutique-hotel feel and a lovely pool terrace with views over the bay. Top-notch accommodation also includes full-frontal sea-view terraces with Jacuzzis and Bali beds, perfect for holing up with your loved one for a romantic soak.
Perched on a hilltop in the Tramuntana Sierra with views over the Mediterranean, the setting of this adults-only hotel is hard to beat. This upscale property is spread around three buildings set in rustic surrounds that are all the more peaceful thanks to the absence of kids. Soak up the sea views from the swimming pool terrace, or treat your other half to a suite to enjoy the sunset from the privacy of your own.
It’s all about the views at this adults-only property – another popular pick in the upscale neighbourhood of Illetas. As well as sights of the sea from practically every guest room, you can also soak up the Med from the comfort of the overflow-edge pool or a surrounding Bali bed. There’s direct access to a small cove and its gin-clear waters, while a rooftop bar provides evening drinks accompanied by glorious sunset panoramas – all gloriously free of ankle-biters.
Opened in 2017, the seriously upscale Pleta de Mar is one of the most recent adults-only additions to the island, and without doubt one of the most chic. Guests have the pick of two infinity pools, nestled amongst olive trees and scented pine woodland overlooking Mallorca’s eastern coast. The 30 luxury suites are scattered throughout the scenic grounds with high-end amenities such as B&O stereos and L’Occitane toiletries – and why not really blow the budget on a top-end suite featuring sea-view hot tubs for two.
This rustic five-star property’s standout feature is the deluxe spa fed by the Font Santa thermal spring, which dates back to the 19th century and is the only of its kind in the Balearic Islands. Breezy contemporary minimalism combines with rustic-chic in the rooms, suites, and villas, some of which feature stunning views over the neighbouring Es Trenc nature park. Couples can also explore the grounds and take a dip in a choice of two large swimming pools or four Jacuzzi tubs dotted around the property.
