Mariborsko Pohorje Ski Resort is the largest ski resort in Slovenia. Located minutes away from Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia, the resort offers 42 km of ski slopes. The highest point of the resort is at 1327 m and offers beautiful views of the region. Ski and snowboarding schools are available, as well 27 km of cross country tracks. Golden Fox (a race in the women’s alpine ski world cup competition) has been held here since 1964 and signifies the peak of the skiing season at Mariborsko Pohorje Ski Resort.
Krvavec Ski Resort
The popular Krvavec Ski Resort is a 25-minute drive from Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital. Visitors can find accommodation in Hotel Krvavec, the highest stationed hotel in Slovenia, or in any of the nearby towns. Krvavec Ski Resorts offers 30 km of ski slopes, a snowboard park, night sledding, and a race slope where speed is timed. There is also a children’s ski park, where kids can enjoy with two slides, waves, and two low jumps. Visitors who wish to enjoy the resort for a day can take the ski bus from downtown Ljubljana, which is available on weekends.
Rogla Ski Resort
12 kilometers of ski slopes are available to skiers and snowboarders at Rogla Ski Resort. From Thursday to Sunday visitors can also enjoy night skiing. Snowboarders and freestyle skiers can practice their tricks on the half-pipe, 15 “Slopestyle Elements”, earth-shaped “Kickers”, and two “Big Air” ski jumps, located in the resort’s Fun Park. Rogla’s top notch cross-country area offers 18 km of tracks which are available to use with the ski pass. Those visitors who do not ski, but wish to enjoy beautiful nature in the winter, can take a walk in one of the well-marked trails around the ski slopes. Various accommodation is available walking distance from the ski slope or in the nearby town Zreče.
Cerkno Ski & Mountain Resort
Cerkno Ski & Mountain Resort it is considered the most modern ski resort in Slovenia. It offers 18 km of ski slopes, six chair lifts, and two drag lifts. There is no dedicated snowboard park, however, snowboarding is permitted on all the slopes. For cross-country skiers, Cerkno Ski & Mountain Resort offers five km of beautiful track on the junction of Upper Carniola and Slovenian Istria. The youngest skiers can partake in Ski-kindergarten activities or take lessons in ski school. Accommodation is available on the ski slope or in the nearby towns.
Kranjska Gora Ski Resort
Kranjska Gora Ski Resort is the oldest in Slovenia. It offers 18 ski trails with a total length of 20 km. Snowboarders can enjoy a half pipe, and the most skilled skiers can test their speed and skills on the Alpine trail. Night skiing, ski touring, ice climbing, sledding, snowboarding, and skating are some of the additional activities offered at the resort. The 40-kilometer-long carefully maintained trail from the center of the Kranjska Gora town through surrounding valley and forest is a dream come true for all the cross-country skiers. Kranjska Gora Ski Resort offers plentiful accommodation options within walking distance of the ski slopes.
Ski Resort Kanin (Ski Center Kanin – Sella Nevea)
Ski Resort Kanin is the highest ski resort in Slovenia. Together with Italian ski resort Sella Nevea it creates the only international ski center in the wider region. The Kanin cable car stops at 2,022 meters from where skiers can enjoy beautiful panoramic views overlooking the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. As the result of the high-altitude, the resort offers the longest ski season in Slovenia lasting from December to the beginning of May. Ski Resort Kanin offers seven ski trails with the total length of 15.5 km. Accommodation is available in the nearby town Bovec.
