While Samara’s Cosmos Arena is still under construction, it is on track to welcome the eager crowd for the 2018 FIFA World Cup with sparkling new facilities. Meanwhile, Kuybyshev Square is set to weather the onslaught of fans and festivities. Whether you are in town to catch a game, or are hanging around to make the most of the mighty Volga, you’ll need a pleasant place to stay. These are our top picks for Samara’s best hotels and hostels.

Dubki Hotel

Dubki Hotel is as close to the stadium as it gets. A smart, polished, medium-sized hotel, Dubki is only a 30 minute walk from the stadium. Getting into town is kind of difficult if you don’t have a car, but the hotel offers transfers to the train station. It also has as pool, a few tennis courts and a restaurant on site, which means comfort and convenience are close at hand.

Nice Hostel

Close to the beach, Nice Hostel is a cheap and colourful hostel that is close to public transportation. You can also meander through town to Kuybyshev Square, and see some of the sights like Samara Modern Gallery. With only four rooms, Nice Hostel is a great little option for those who want to be near the beach.

Cherry Hostel

This is another bright hostel, close to the Volga River. The walk to the Fan Fest zone from here will also take you through some of the city’s main attractions, so give yourself a little extra time to explore. Eleven clean, brightly coloured rooms provide affordable accommodation for those on a budget. Cherry Hostel is a good place to meet people if travelling solo.

La Maison

This hotel is located near Cosmos Arena and usually gets booked up for winter skiing; however, if you do find a room, La Maison is ideal if you are looking for a quiet stay and are planning to catch a live game. A ten room guesthouse, complementary breakfast, terrace, garden and restaurant make this place a comfortable and easy stay.

Holiday Inn Samara

The Holiday Inn Samara is a good pick if you want to soak up as much of the Volga River as possible, but still have an easy trip to Kuybyshev Square. This complex is quite large and offers comfort and convenience. Since it is located in the heart of the city, visitors have easy access to many of Samara’s great bars and restaurants, like alternative hot spot Povdal, and Georgian favourite Puri.

Hotel Graf Orlov

A slick, stylish, mid-range hotel that is in a great location for making the most of the city, Hotel Graf Orlov is a couple of blocks away from the beach and the Fan Fest zone. The hotel is close to public transportation as well, so visitors feel free to fully explore the area. Near to the Samara Regional Art Museum, this hotel is just far enough way that a walk to Kuybyshev Square will get you acquainted with the town.

Renaissance Samara

On the stadium’s side of the city, Renaissance Samara is an easy drive from Cosmos Arena. It is a stylish hotel complex that has all the the conveniences you need, including two restaurants and a pool. As it is located in a quiet part of town, visitors don’t have any trouble sleeping here, and to add to the tranquility, there are hiking and biking trails nearby.
