In 1976, Finalmente club opened its doors, immediately forming a central part of Lisbon’s nightlife. Countless numbers of their varied and glamorous transvestite shows, over 35 years, have entertained millions of customers and friends. Though the club has a new face, is fresher and rejuvenated, it remains young and full of vitality. Enjoy the shows on stage with a few drinks from the club’s bar.

Trumps is a major part of Lisbon’s gay nightlife and has been so for a long time. This club is, by far, the largest gay club in the city. On the ground floor, there is a cloakroom and a large bar area with seating. When you go down to the underground floor you can choose between two dance floors. The largest dance floor is dedicated to house and dance music, and includes a stage, used for shows. A fantastic night is always to be had at Trumps.

Castro Beer is a bar with live music and mismatched décor. Wooden pallets have been reused and painted to decorate the bar, and wooden boxes cover up a whole wall filled with plants and cheap beer. They have two things that are absurdly hard to find in any given bar in Lisbon these days, table soccer and darts. It’s the perfect setting if you’re hanging around with a couple of friends for a night out. It is a very relaxed place with a quirky atmosphere and a laid back attitude.

Purex is an LGBT-friendly bar, and is very popular with the artistic, alternative and fashionable crowd. Purex is also possibly one of the most popular bars in Lisbon for girls. There is a small dance floor and occasionally, there are live DJ sets. The interior has an edgy décor, yet is still very cozy and laid back. Drinks are priced as normal for Lisbon and are good value for money. In Purex, you must try their cosmopolitans as they are the best in Lisbon.

As Primas is a little bar with a big attitude. This LGBT-friendly space, most popular with lesbians, is a great meeting point for drinks with friends. Tapas and light meals are available at the bar. A foosball table, pool table and pinball machine provides entertainment. If you head to this venue, expect a fun, animated crowd trying to talk above the music playing on the 20th century jukebox.
