Get ready for a tour of the finest cafés in the Polish city of Szczecin. Sitting right on the border of Germany, the city acts as a shipping port and offers an insight into Polish city life without the masses of tourists that Warsaw, Kraków and Gdańsk attract. This is a selection of some superb cafés ranging from venues with good views, shops that have lasted generations and up-and-coming hangouts serving fresh coffee and delicious ice creams and cakes.
Cafe Niebko is located next to the Botanical Gardens and inside the Muzeum Techniki i Komunikacji Zajezdnia Sztuki (technology and transport museum). The coffee menu has over ten varieties, including some iced options. The tea menu is also extensive, with teas from Earl Grey to Jasmine Gold to Refreshing Mint. Food-wise, try the green egg salad, the zupa warzywna (vegetable soup) or the range of cakes and pastries. Please note that it is closed on Mondays.
Another great cafe to Szczecin’s growing repertoire is Cafe Vanilla. The coffee range is wide, including vanilla frappés, coffee with caramel and the usual flat white, cappuccino, etc. There are good chocolate cakes, fruity ice creams and tea with honey and lemon. It has open plan seating and is a standalone building.
