The Best Cafés in Szczecin, Poland

Picture of Jonny Blair
Updated: 18 February 2018
Get ready for a tour of the finest cafés in the Polish city of Szczecin. Sitting right on the border of Germany, the city acts as a shipping port and offers an insight into Polish city life without the masses of tourists that Warsaw, Kraków and Gdańsk attract. This is a selection of some superb cafés ranging from venues with good views, shops that have lasted generations and up-and-coming hangouts serving fresh coffee and delicious ice creams and cakes.

Café 22 is a swanky venue that serves up great milkshakes, coffees and teas. Café 22 is widely regarded as Szczecin’s most fashionable coffeehouse. But the best thing of all is the view. Café 22 is so named as it is located on floor 22 of Szczecin’s highest building. The food menu also has tasty treats such as Polish pancakes (naleśniki), chilled pavlova and salty caramel ice cream. On a summer evening, it also serves as a wonderful place to watch the sunset, as cocktails are served and it stays open until 11 p.m.

Cup and Cake (by Izy Bar) is located at plac Orła Białego and is a cosy and small venue, perfect for a decent coffee and good cake. There are two parts to the café: the upper seating area is more private, and the downstairs section is brighter and overlooks the pedestrian street. To accompany your cappuccino or latte, try one of their speciality muffins. The range is always changing, sometimes they have cartoon characters on buns in their colourful display.

Cafe Castellari is a famous local chain of ice cream and coffee houses that dates back to 1946. Expect the best ice cream in town from a menu that boasts an astonishing and eclectic range. You can even design your own ice cream here, but recommended specials on the delicious menu are mint, banana split, forest scent and the ‘Jamaica’. To go with this, of course coffee and tea are also served to an excellent standard.
